It has a tan body with gradient dark bands, and shiny blue and black stripes on the top of the head, with a
yellow stripe from cheek to cheek and deeply set-back eyes.

A 180 gallon tank with live rock structured together to have caves and crevices is an ideal setup for this fish. These fish are aggressive and should be kept one per tank because of their territorial behavior. These fish are considered reef safe with caution since it might eat invertebrate in the tank and might move coral around. These fish should be kept with other fish of same size and temperament.

Triggers need a varied diet of meaty food such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, krill, squid, clams and small live fish.
